Machine Learning on the upswing in KSA, plan to equip 1,000 skilled engineers
Riyadh, 27th March 2024: Characterized by an impeccable fusion of AI with analytics-driven solutions, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is undergoing myriad tech advancements. Massive digitalization drives across sectors like healthcare, education, telecom, BFSI and others are fuelling large databases wherein there’s a dire need to derive patterns or algorithms for growth. Needless to mention, it’s giving a direct rise to the country’s machine learning market which is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 11.5% during the forecast period 2023–2028.
On the other hand, the government as well is ensuring its best support as the National Program for Information Technology Development (NPITD) recently announced an initiative to train 1,000 skilled engineers in AI & machine learning. To further deepen its impact, the program has partnered with Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
Furthermore, the evolution of open-source data platforms has enabled organisations to leverage machine learning tools to identify patterns for predictive demands.
Interesting developments from the past:
- In 2019, the Kingdom’s Alawwal Bank allied with a tech firm, Reaktor to adopt AI & machine learning tools while giving its staff the right training with the tools for improved client services.
- In 2022, the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) and the Ministry of Energy joined hands with IBM Inc. to collectively boost AI & machine learning adoption in carbon capture for attaining a circular carbon economy.
